Why Nodoka

Your loofah stays wet. That's the problem.

Loofahs and poufs hold water for hours, and anything warm, damp and full of dead skin is a great home for bacteria. In Japan, most people use something better.

Dries fast

Thin and flat, so it rinses clean and dries in a few hours on a hook. Less time damp means less growing on it.

Reaches everywhere

About three feet long. Hold both ends and wash your whole back like you mean it. No brush on a stick required.

Better lather

A little soap goes a long way. The weave whips it into a thick foam and gently lifts dead skin as you wash.

Made in Japan

A modern brand with an old-school maker.

Every Nodoka cloth is woven in [REGION], Japan, by [MAKER], a towel maker that has been doing this for [XX] years. We could have gone cheaper. We didn't, because you'll use this every single day.

The name comes from nodoka, a Japanese word for the calm, unhurried feeling of a peaceful afternoon. That's the feeling we're after, every day.

The ritual

The one part of the day nobody else gets.

No phone. No inbox. Just warm water and a few slow minutes. Nodoka doesn't make your shower longer. It makes it feel like it counts.

  1. 1Wet the cloth and add a little soap.
  2. 2Scrunch it to build a thick lather.
  3. 3Take your time. Hold both ends for your back.
  4. 4Rinse it out and hang it open to dry.

How long does one last?

Most people replace theirs every six months or so. Toss it in the wash now and then to keep it fresh.

What soap should I use?

Any body wash or bar soap works. You'll need less than you think.
